The mobile communications company MagtiCom Ltd was commercially launched in September 1997. At present the company is owned by Telcell Wireless LLC and ITC LLC.
Mr. David Lee – the General Director is in charge of MagtiCom.
MagtiCom commenced operating on 900 MHz frequency band. In November 1999 MagtiCom became the first GSM operator in Georgia to move to the dual-band system – GSM 900/1800 MHz.
In 2005 MagtiCom started to build the first Third Generation network in Georgia to offer the 3G services. As a result, in summer 2006, first time in Georgia, the Company launched the third generation services along with the
full range of GSM ones.
On April, 2008 the first in Georgia MagtiCom offered the customers high-standard wireless fixed telephone service along with the ordinary mobile telecommunication. In line with Magti and Bali, Magti Fix is the third brand of MagtiCom.
In January, 2009 the Company announced the launch of 3.5 G HSDPA technology throughout the territory of Georgia.
In October 2009 the company announced the commercial launch of
BlackBerry® service.
On June 7, 2010 a new brand of MagtiCom – Bani has been launched.
MagtiCom has been the biggest company operating in Georgia, both with respect of its contribution made to the economy of the country and the number of subscribers:
By means of its four brands
Magti,
Bali,
Magti Fix and
Bani MagtiCom now is rendering service to more than two million subscribers.
Notwithstanding stiff competition MagtiCom remains the unchallenged leader in mobile telecommunications market of Georgia establishing new customer care standards.
