CLIP

A fancy Mercedes stops in front of the luxury restaurant. A smartly dressed couple step out of the car and head for the entrance.
Life is blissful...

A smiling waiter vainly waits for their order. The busy young man has no time for him. His mobile phone is ringing nonstop from New York, Paris, Tbilisi…
The charming young lady waits for his attention, also in vain.

And again the phone rings.  The young man answers the phone and…

Seated on the bar stool with a mobile phone in her hand, his partner is smiling mischievously.

Again MAGTI helps them find each other.

We are sure you remember this fine commercial, which convinced us that it is possible to make good commercials in Georgia.

The idea for this clip was born at the Neostudio. The work on the commercial, including the final arrangement of shots, was a collaborative effort of a wonderful team of Georgians - Giorgi Ebralidze, Dato Evgenidze, Tamriko Potskhishvili, Nino Kasradze, Mamuka Loria, Irakli Kavsadze and many others. The work was hard but exciting.

The shooting took place at the Europa Restaurant, from night till dawn. All the preparation work, anxiety, make-up artists, hairdressers...  First take, second take…
When you see it, it appears so easy. It only lasts several seconds showing a number of smart scenes on the screen. But on that night there was tension and strain, laughter and funny moments, and finally the relaxed feeling of satisfaction by something well done.

The “waiter” Mamuka Loria cannot even light the candle properly. A professional waiter from the Europa rushed up to the Neostudians, scolding them loudly: “We are all skilled waiters here and you’ve brought somebody who has no idea how to serve the table…”

The clip was made - the first and wonderful MAGTI GSM commercial. It was followed by the second, the third and many others, but the “Restaurant” stayed on the screen, attractive and loved, like everything  first…

This commercial has brought a vast popularity to the three wonderful actors, already popular in Georgia. Today Nino Kasradze and Irakli Kavsadze will share their memories of the work on the clip, but we will meet Mamuka Loria to talk about other MAGTI GSM commercials.

Nino Kasradze:
A good commercial is a real art… It is hard for me to say whether this commercial is good or bad. It is up to the audience to assess it. I can only say that the work has been extremely interesting and important to me and I felt enormous responsibility doing it.

During the shooting, the atmosphere was so professional that the work turned into sheer pleasure. Everyone tried to do their best, which assured its eventual success.
When a woman appears in a commercial, I think the work should largely focus on her looks. This is of special significance in photo and video advertising. In the theatre or cinema one has more time and opportunity to shape the character, but here you have only a few minutes to make proper accents. Having a good partner is particularly important. I have been fortunate to have wonderful partners.

When they called me with the proposal, I asked immediately what commercial it was. One must be confident of the quality of the advertised product, you know. The GSM network is a major advancement worldwide and I am glad to be somehow a part of introducing this innovation to Georgia. I can’t say how popular I am, but one thing is clear, I’ve become more popular after this clip. Speaking in terms of bringing popularity, the commercials today have the lion’s share.

Irakli Kavsadze:
To begin with, I’d like to know who first suggested that I should be invited to participate in this commercial. I would like to say my heartfelt thanks to him.
At that time, I had only just returned from Gudauri and my face was all burnt and swollen. Luckily, the work on the clip was scheduled to begin ten days later and I thought I would regain my normal looks by then. I won the screening and the day for the filming came. It was a wonderful day. In fact it was a night, with a small but unusually close and friendly team. I listened to the director and the cameraman, thought only about my work, and felt very relaxed, and most importantly respected, a rare case nowadays. The most remarkable thing is that Manana Shevarnadze and Gia Jokhtaberidze were with us from the very start. This was a great support. They stayed with us until five o’clock in the morning and waited until everything was finished and all the equipment was packed. We all felt that they cared about and supported us in our work. For me this was rather unusual and pleasant at the same time.

This commercial has been a landmark event in my life and work. It has brought me enormous popularity. People stop me in the streets, at markets, for they all recognize me. They tell me that my friend’s grandmother sits in front of the television waiting for my commercial. When she was told that I am her grandchild’s friend, she was over the moon. Of course, it’s pleasant to hear such stories.

When they called me from the Neostudio to invite me to see the clip, I was very excited. I wondered how it would turn out. But I liked it very much. It proved that it is possible to make good clips in Georgia.

It really matters what you are advertising.  We made the MAGTI GSM commercial with pleasure.  Don’t tell me that you can live without a mobile phone nowadays.  Once I lost my phone, and I felt so miserable that I went nearly mad.  I was prepared to stop a stranger in the street to borrow his mobile phone.  Then I told my father that if I didn’t buy a new phone, I might  kill everyone in sight.  As you see, now I am “armed” again, and never separate with my phone.
Working on the clip has been both important and pleasant for me, and if the opportunity presents itself, I will gladly participate in another MAGTI GSM commercial.
