At a certain stage in your life your biography coincided with the biography of Magticom. You have been working in this company since 1997. What is the road that Magticom has traveled over the four years of its existence and what is the road that you have followed in this company?

For me, it has indeed been a pleasant coincidence. I joined the company at the time when its commercial activity had not yet begun. That was the period during Magticom's beginning and it was fundamentally different from the company that I know today.

I  started my job as a Sales Coordinator in 1997. I believe that together with my colleagues, we have created a basis for the largest sales network within Georgia. (Today, Magticom has 42 Sales and Customer Service offices both in the capital and in the regions of the country). After that, I headed both the Marketing and Sales Departments as well. From the end of 1998, I worked in the Customer Care Department, where I had the opportunity to study further the issues pertaining to the relationship between a large company and its subscribers.

Still, I would particularly single out the period when I was appointed to serve as the Director for Marketing and CustomerCare. Numerous new projects were prepared in the company throughout this period, and the groundwork for many novelties was laid. The strategy set by Magticom in terms of introducing new, or to be more precise, the newest technologies, has gone far beyond the limits of prestige and success attributable to a single company and has become a nationwide achievement.

Obviously, it is an honor to work on perfecting the technologies that Magticom has launched at the same time as European operators. I am happy that in near future  Magticom subscribers will become  a part of, and enjoy the benefits of a number of new services connected with the launching of these latest technologies.

I am strongly convinced that everything that has been achieved was made possible thanks to the tremendous commitment of my friends and colleagues who are true professionals in this business. The reason for Magticom's victory, along with other factors, is due to the highly qualified staff that has grown within our company and developed into world-class professionals.

I am happy to have an opportunity to mark the fourth anniversary of Magticom's commercial activity together with the subscribers and the entire team of this strong company.

You are the director of one of the largest companies in Georgia. How do you view your role in this company, what are your plans and hopes?

First and foremost, the managing of this company is a tremendous responsibility. It is responsibility to the employees working in Magticom today, to those people who have confidence in me and have entrusted me with running such an important business. And, most importantly, the responsibility to the enormous number of subscribers that enjoy Magticom services.

As far as the future plans are concerned, they are associated with the subsequent development of the company. Mobile communication today is on the brink of a new generation of technologies and in this respect many things are going to change in the short run. This is an extremely complicated process which, to a certain extent, will change the life of each of us. The policy pursued by our company over the last period in terms of introducing new systems makes us hopeful that, for Magticom, this transition process will be least painful. A great deal has been accomplished to this day, we have already made the first steps toward establishing the new generation systems, the so-called 2.5 generation. Therefore, the optimism for the future is based on realistic prospects to be realized in the short run.
I want to assure the Magticom subscribers that in the future the company will be advancing the application of the newest systems.
 

What does a company like Magticom mean for Georgia and for country’s economy?

On the one hand, it is rather difficult for me to answer  this question since, in this case, I can only speak about the success that Magticom has achieved. But on the other hand, it is very easy to answer because in the course of its activities the company has proved the importance of strong organizations in the development of the country’s economy. Let me give you the statistics which will not allow me to be subjective with regard to the company where I have spent the last four years.
Since the beginning of 2001 (including August), Magticom has contributed up to 12 million Lari to the Georgian economy, while last year’s contribution was over 14 million Lari. For the sake of clarity, to show the reader what these figures mean, I will bring one fact to your attention: In the course of the previous year payments made by Magticom accounted for 5.23 percent of the projected revenues from the country’s production and rendered services. Among private companies, this is the highest percentage. Today, it is already obvious that last year’s index will be considerably exceeded. To be frank, we'll be much happier if many other companies appear and will pay more to the budget than Magticom does. This will be a win-win case for everybody, and the social situation in the country will improve significantly.

Another issue which I want to point out relative to the public, pertains to the adherence to the new principle of performance of the company. In spite of severe competition, Magticom was the first company in Georgia that made its business open to the general public. Indeed, only a strong company could have made such a move.  At the same time, such transparency in the financial activities of the company could have been acceptable only to an organization which stands true and honest in its country. Each month, Magticom pays its taxes in full and on time, then publishes the financial report in the press.

At this point, I would also like to touch upon an equally important factor which often remains "out of the frame", and is currently accepted as an existing reality. In my view, Magticom has fulfilled a special function in Georgia in terms of developing a strong infrastructure, as communication problems were removed from the agenda of  businessmen carrying on their business in various regions of the country. From this day onwards, communications will never be an impediment to the economic development of the country.

Magticom has proved that any person or company is capable of doing an important job for the country and has proved it by the huge input that one private company has made for the country’s general good.

What does a company like Magticom mean to its subscribers?

It might be that someone might accuse me of being biased. However, I can hardly imagine the mobile communications market in Georgia without Magticom. In my view, it has played a crucial role in the establishment of a new type of company. It was Magticom that first managed to provide many regions of the country not only with mobile, but also with communication systems at large. Today, the company’s coverage is the largest in Georgia. Magticom has been the pioneer in launching numerous new technologies in the country that have fundamentally changed our idea of communication, and have turned the mobile phone from a luxury item into a permanent companion for many of us.

It is due to these reasons that today Magticom is the market leader, and more than 150,000 customers have confidence in its name and quality. The company will spare no effort to meet their expectations.
 

Could you say a few words about the company contacts and partners?

With an enormous sense of pride, I wish to name our foreign and local company partners, among which I’d particularly single out the world-famous Motorola company which has collaborated with Magticom from the very first day of its foundation. The largest share of the new projects to be launched in the short run are associated with Motorola.  During this shift to the new generation technologies, Motorola will perhaps be the key supplier and partner. Of no less importance is the fact that our relationship has quite a long history. Magticom is hopeful that in the future this cooperation will become even stronger.

In terms of Magticom's technical equipment, along with Motorola, the importance of the Siemens company is paramount. We have been using Siemens MSC.  I would like to express my thanks those partner companies that always stand by our side in our fight for mutual success.

 What would you wish your company?

Magticom has been a successful company. It has had many remarkable successes throughout the period of its existence. I would wish the company to maintain the first place and attain the set goals in the future. I trust that this will positively impact the development of mobile communication systems and the advancement of the country’s economy.
