A ceremonial concert was held on
22 September, at the State Opera and Ballet Academic Theatre. In
attendance were a large number of foreign guests, who came to Tbilisi especially
for the occasion, and our fellow citizens. The concert opened with a new
documentary film - Magti GSM - the world of constant connection, shot by
Neostudio (director - Sergo Buiglishvili, operator - Soso Gulbani).
The film was completed early in September. Shootings
took place in Tbilisi as well as Kodori Gorge, the village of Chuberi
in Svaneti and other mountainous regions of Georgia.
The show at the Opera Theatre was staged by the director,
Basa Potskhishvili, while the original and
eye-catching scenery was the work of Tamriko Potskhishvili.
Below is photo coverage of the MagtiCom's jubilee evening
and the ceremonial reception dedicated to the Company's fifth anniversary.
Nino Kasradze: It's been five years since Magti GSM appeared in our lives - in rain and shine, in hills and dales, indoors and outdoors, in the sea and in the sky. Magti GSM is the only medium to communicate a message and sometimes even make a confession of love. And what is most important, it never lets you down. On the face of it,it is the simplest task to pick up a receiver, dial a number and talk... But behind this there are people who work day and night to ensure that things run smoothly. Magti is a world of benign constant connections.
Nino Kuratashvili: The first telephone call in Tbilisi was made at the end of the 19th century, in 1882. One can only guess the contents of telephone conversations at that time, but maybe they were equally as businesslike, purposeful and sometimes amusing as they are today.
Gia Jokhtaberidze: Allow me to greet and thank you for your presence this evening. I would like to say a word of thanks to the whole staff of Magti GSM for the vigour and competence they have revealed when working in MagtiCom. My thanks also go to our business partners, whether in Georgia or abroad; Geocell - for its healthy competition; Neostudio - for successfully conducting of our advertising campaign.
After me comes the speech of the former president of the Metromedia, Mr. Richard Sherwin, and I feel called upon to state, that were it not for his efforts there would be no place, in this country of perplexing vagaries, for MagtiCom, Georgian Telecom, Ayety TV, two radios - Era and Fortuna and Pagering companies. Our thanks to them, for their disinterested support. And many thanks to more than 240 thousand subscribers, being the pledge of our success. Thank you!
Salome Gviniashvili: This is what the former President of Metromedia International Telecommunications, Mr. Richard Sherwin recalled in the first issue of the World of Constant Connection Magazine:
“I first arrived in Tbilisi in June, 1996. It was then that I first met Gia Jokhtaberidze. Gia was keenly interested in the creation of a GSM System, had the license and I could only say to him: why not!””
Richard Sherwin: I first arrived in Georgia in 1990 and it is fair to say that all the obstacles befalling Georgia during these years came in my way too, for which reason I feel as if there is a part of me that is Kartveli (Georgian). We recognize the traits of Kartveli character: passion, vigour, fortitude... Even the Kartuli word Gamarjoba meaning wishing you victory, a word very similar to Gamarjoba, symbolises the desire to overcome barriers. Clearly MagtiCom, its Staff and Gia Jokhtaberidze, who has knowledge and distinguished vision, demonstrate the essence of that spirit. Now more than a quarter of a million subscribers of MagtiCom are test to those capabilities. Gagimarjot!

Mamuka Loria: What is Magti GSM and what is its constant connection with football? Let me make it clear. Magti GSM: A passes to B, B passes to C, C receives: “Hello!” And now football: A passes to B, B passes to C, C receives and “Goal!”
Zaza Shengelia: Magti GSM provides the perfect example of how to move your business forward and cultivate, at the same time, the image of Maecenas; how to do good without expecting thanks.
I would like to express my grateful thanks to MagtiCom and Mr. Gia Jokhtaberidze being always on standby to assist the TV-Radio Committee.Through their support and assistance a wide range of projects has already come to fruition. It is my confidence expression that this cooperation will enjoy a further continuation.
Magti GSM is an example of how to contribute to the advancement of your country and its economic success, but most importantly, it is a company that has set an example of success. Our country, our population, are so badly in need of such precedents.
Today we can assume it with confidence that Georgian business has become a continuing fact of life and so has the Georgian state.
Vano Iantbelidze: I apologize, my dear fellows, I forgot to switch it off and here it rings again! But leaving aside the pitchers in Kakheti and this orchestra pit, I can no longer find a place in Georgia to hide myself from Magti GSM. They say, it has reached Kodori as well, I'm so glad to hear this. Once I send a message from Znauri to Gagra, Georgia will be fully covered with Magti signals. This day too is close at hand.
Dimitri Jaiani: Georgia is no stranger to charity. But now the only aspect on which I wish to focus your attention is in respect of refugees. Every premier and tour of the Sukhumi Konstantine Gamsakhurdia State Academic Theatre is linked with MagtiCom. The daily routine of the Abkhazian Union of Writers is also linked with MagtiCom. With MagtiCom is linked every upward move of our displaced sportsmen and great many families rescued from the arms of death. I have the pleasure to remind the public in attendance that Mr. Gia Jokhtaberidze originally comes from Sukhumi. Let me on behalf of all refugees convey to the company staff and him personally my word of thanks, thank you very much!
Nino Kasradze: I am an actress by profession and work at
the theatre. But very often I have also found myself an an ordinary spectator
sitting in the auditorium. I am well-placed to sense the world of constant
connection between the actors and the audience and can, therefore, easily
perceive the core principle of space-conquering Magti GSM: to let people
work in the world of constant connection built upon trust, kindness, love
and benevolence.
