First  in  Georgia

Georgians like to be the first to do everything and they constantly try to be pioneers in every field. Unfortunately, our life has recently taken a turn that makes this very difficult.  It is therefore very pleasant when there are some achievements that we can point out, achievements based on strenuous effort and hard work. These achievements should be examined.

From the very first day of MAGTI GSM’s existence its customers have often been privileged to be able to say "It is the first time in Georgia that…".

MAGTI GSM was the first company in Georgia to use both the 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies when it started operating the latter on 28 November 1999. It had become essential by that time as the company was growing rapidly and the quality of its services needed to be improved. The use of these frequencies approximates existing global standards– the relatively new GSM 1800 standard has become popular, and combined with the GSM 900 standard, is considered to be the best way to improve the quality of mobile phone services in big cities.  To make full use of the two standards available mobile phones compatible with the 900/1800 MHz frequencies are recommended. At the present time MAGTI GSM is still the only company operating at 900 and 1800 MHz standards.

February 2000 brought yet another change for MAGTI GSM customers, again for the first time in this country. Our sales and customer service offices now offer cards with two telephone numbers as well as conventional SIM cards. This new innovation in telecommunications software enables you to switch between two telephone numbers on your mobile phone without having to buy two SIM cards. Each card has two unique numbers which operate independently of each other. The customer can choose which number he or she wants to use and switch to it. The card has a bigger memory than the conventional SIM card, storing up to 240 numbers. The memory is common to both numbers. We will not go into detail about the convenience of this new innovation - a card providing the opportunity to define your life-style.

Voicemail is a very important feature for those owning a dual subscription SIM card. MAGTI GSM was the first service-provider to offer this service in Georgia. Voicemail ensures that you don’t miss important information even if it is impossible to actually speak to you at that moment. When using voicemail services your telephone acts as an answer machine only when you want it to. You can use one of several voicemail modes available. The options are tailored to different situations – when the telephone is switched off or is out of the coverage area; when the telephone is busy or when there is no answer. In each case the system will provide instructions in Georgian, Russian or English.
For the first time in Georgia roaming services in the USA became a reality for MAGTI GSM customers in May 2000. You can now use our roaming services in the following states and districts: Idaho, Iowa, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Washington, Illinois, Utah, Kansas, Colorado, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Wyoming and Hawaii, as well as on interstate highways.  MAGTI GSM was also the first company in Georgia to establish roaming service agreements with Australia and countries in Africa and south-east Asia.

Magti GSM was the first company to establish the network of regional sales and customer service offices throughout Georgia: in addition to the 5 offices in Tbilisi, 17 offices are functioning in the regions and there number will further  increase.

MAGTI GSM was the first company to make use of regional bank networks for customer service: 3 branches of Bank of Georgia can now be used by our customers.

Despite the fact that there were already two mobile communications companies in Georgia  before MAGTI GSM entered the market, the company was the first to cross the 20 000  customer threshold. We have now passed the 70 000 threshold as well.

The company’s main objective is to provide MAGTI GSM services across the widest possible area. We were the first to provide services in Kakheti, Samtskhe – Javakheti, Svaneti and Racha.  We have already covered  90% of Georgia’s populated area.

The company was the first of the GSM operators in Georgia to introduce the advance payment service in November 1998, which means that customers are covered to use the service up to the amount of the advance deposit.

We were also the first of the GSM operators in Georgia to introduce an advance payment card which fully automates cash-flow. Our advance payment card, "MONO" allows you to deposit the required sum into your account. The procedure is quite simple and saves you time and energy. MONO gives customers the opportunity to plan and manage their mobile phone expenditure by way of the three types of cards available: 30-lari, 60-lari and 120 lari cards.

The founder of MAGTICOM Ltd, Mr. Giorgi Jokhtaberidze initiated a programme of financial transparency in July 1999. Since then, any interested party has been able to get hold of the monthly report, published by the press, detailing the amount transferred by the company to the state budget. This step has made transparency a reality, not just "words, words…". MAGTICOM was the first company to make public the information that most companies prefer to keep secret.

And a final point – MAGTI GSM customers were the first in Georgia to have their own magazine, a token of our appreciation for their loyalty and support, as well as a guide to the wide open world of mobile communications. It was the first corporate magazine. Our objective was not only to provide readers with information about the latest services offered by the company, but also to engage in discussions about life and universal values. We think that many of us long  for this kind of discussion today when everything around us is being re-valued. We just want to be proud of something… After all everyone needs a little bit of hope and faith.

It was the first time in Georgia...

MAGTI GSM will always be in the front line of innovation.
