MagtiCom, the third operator in Georgia's mobile communications
market, launched its operations on 22 September, 1997. By the end of the
same year, just a hundred days later, however, it became the leader of
mobile communications in our country. This was the result of good management
and an effective advertising campaign carried out by Neostudio.
Today, too, MagtiCom remains the unchallenged leader.
As of 10 July 2002, as I write this article, MagtiCom has more than 211
thousand active subscribers and its network covers over 95% of the populated
territory of Georgia. In ten days time, the Magti GSM signal will cover
the Kodori Gorge as well. We have been working for half a year to achieve
this goal.
Communication is a prerequisite for the progress, be it
in times of war or peace. That is why life in the modern world is inconceivable
without communications. No investor will establish a business in Georgia
unless there is a reliable link between all its regions and the outside
world.
From the commercial point of view, the coverage by Magti
GSM of a high mountainous zone in Georgia may not be as justified as, for
instance, the coverage of one of the districts in Tbilisi. My colleagues
and I have never been driven by financial considerations alone. The motivating
force is our work and getting it properly done. Profit is the result of
a well-accomplished job, enabling you to expand your business… In some
regions of Georgia Magti GSM is the sole means of communication. Only a
small area has been left and, shortly, the whole of Georgia will be covered
by the Magti signal.
Most importantly, MagtiCom is a Georgian company. We serve
the Georgian cause in the broadest sense of this word.
In the seven years of MagtiCom's existence and the five
years of its operation, we have contributed around 62 million Lari to Georgia's
economy. We have been the pioneers in introducing and establishing in Georgia
the principle of absolute transparency. Every month, we publicly disclose
our financial statements in the media.
And one more thing: for me, morality is the paramount
criterion. Everything that we dislike in Georgia today is, first of all,
due to the lack of morality. Perhaps, because we lived in a country, the
Soviet Union, which was not our homeland. Today our country is our own
homeland, our Georgia. This is what we must all have in mind.
Only culture is capable of filling in the deficit of morality.
And, therefore, the main “targets” of MagtiCom's charity work, among others,
are culture and the artistic community.
Today each MagtiCom key unit is staffed with world-class
professionals. I am proud that we have been able to create a modern communications
company, which is comparable with any similar company in any country of
the world. I am fully responsible for my words: we keep abreast of European
and American companies, we do not lag behind, either in terms of state-of-the-art
technologies, or the full range of services (I mean GSM operator services)
or management.
I take this opportunity and congratulate all MagtiCom
employees on the 5th anniversary of the company's operation! I extend many
thanks to them for their hard work, dedication, integrity and professionalism.
Many thanks also to Magti GSM subscribers for their support,
because without them our success would not have been possible.
