რიკოთის მონაკვეთი BRIEFLY ABOUT FREEWAYS
RIKOTI PASS SECTION
The transformation of Georgia’s arterial
thoroughfares into the Tsiteli Khidi-Tbilisi-Sarpi
Freeway is expanding in leaps and bounds, because
it is part of the Silk Road and an important
connecting point along the transit route leading to
China via Europe and Asia. By way of the Black Sea
ports of Poti and Batumi, this is the shortest path
between Europe and Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey,
and Armenia and the Central Asian states. The
geographic location of these highways preconditions
the freeway’s transformation into a key transport
link between the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, and
Central Asia. Tsiteli Khidi-Tbilisi-Sarpi is part of
European route E 60, the second longest road of
the International E-road network that runs from
Brest, France (on the Atlantic coast) to Irkeshtam,
Kyrgyzstan (on the border with the People’s Republic
of China).
Georgia aspires to emerge as a transit hub on the
world map.
